Omega Men's 2201.50.00 Seamaster Planet Ocean Automatic Chronometer Watch Review

This is my fourth Swiss timepiece and it has to be said, my favourite. I have also owned an Ikepod, Omega Speedmaster Broad Arrow and a Tag F1, the latter of which I still own as it is just such a fun watch.

I basically swapped my Broad Arrow (BA) for the Planet Ocean XL (PO XL) and I'm glad I did (the XL is the one to go for not the baby brother version). The BA is a fantastic watch but I started to find it just a little too dressy for my taste. The PO XL on the other hand is a fantastic, great looking, chunky sports watch which grabs peoples attention without being too flash. It can be worn as an everyday watch but it still has the class and will look great on that special occasion. The PO is beautifully made and a pleasure to wear. I looked at the Tags (Aquaracer and Link) Breitling (colt) and some others in the price range and they just didn't come close to this one in my opinion. I have had it 6 months now and timekeeping is spot on as you would expect. I tend to get bored with my watches and sell them on and replace them after a few years. But I can honestly say that I might just settle down with my Planet Ocean.

This Omega watch features self-winding Swiss automatic movement enhanced by Omega's breakthrough co-axial escapement, a technology that ensures high precision and stable accuracy over long periods of use.It is rated water resistant to a full 600 meters (or 2000 feet).
The Omega Story
The Omega watch story begins in 1848, when founder Louis Brandt began hand assembling key-wound precision pocket watches from parts supplied by local craftsmen in his principality La Chaux-de-Fonds, in the northwest corner of Switzerland. However, the Omega name didn't appear until 1894, after Louis Brandt had passed away and his watchmaking traditions were taken over by his sons, Louis-Paul and Cesar Brandt. Omega watches have long been associated with glamorous screen and sports stars--the Omega Seamaster is famous for being the watch of choice for James Bond--with current ambassadors including Pierce Brosnan, Nicole Kidman, tennis player Anna Kournikova, and swimmers Michael Phelps and Ian Thorpe.
But Omega is more than just a fashionable watch. In 1965, the Omega Speedmaster chronograph was "flight-qualified by NASA for all manned space missions" as the only wristwatch to have withstood all of the U.S. space agency's severe tests, including passing grades for extreme shocks, vibrations, and temperatures ranging from -18 to +93 degrees Celsius. The greatest moment in the Speedmaster's history was undoubtedly 20 July 1969 at 02:56 GMT, when it recorded man's first steps on the Moon's surface as part of the Apollo 11 mission. Today, Omega is known for its rigorous testing of new movements, cases, and bands. Each new Omega movement is tested on the wrist in existing Omega models, while various laboratory tests are conducted to determine temperature-resistance, shock-resistance and vibration-resistance.

Omega Men's 2909.50.91 Seamaster Planet Ocean Automatic Chronometer Rubber Strap Watch Review

Omega Men's 2909.50.91 Seamaster Planet Ocean Automatic Chronometer Rubber Strap Watch
Average Reviews:

This review refers to the Model 2218.50, XL version (45 mm case) with steel bracelet. The opinions of the movement, adjustment and reliability are also applicable to the model with rubber strap and leather / lizard strap.

This is a hefty timepiece, it weighs 9+ ounces (over half a pound), it feels and exudes quality and is bound to illicit a glance and a double take. The domed double anti glare sapphire crystal is super sharp and sometimes hard to determine it is even there.

The exterior is a combination of brushed and polished stainless steel, most notably the trademark Omega horns are this blended finish.

The screw down crown is adorned with the Omega logo and easy to open, the first position enables manual winding for a power boost, the helium escape valve at 10:00 is adorned with the periodic symbol "He".

Clockwise turns of the crown in second position adjusts the date forward, the date can't be adjusted backwards. Time adjustment is easy and rapid; no adjustment for seconds is available.

The unidirectional bezel rotates counter clockwise 120 clicks and lines up perfectly with every second marker, the solid feel of the rotation is nothing less than you'd expect from an Omega.

The luminescent material of this watch is a glow magnet, just a few seconds exposure to sunlight or held close to a lamp will turn the face of this watch into a lighthouse! Combined with the chrome and split bezel hands of the subdials and this timepiece can be used as a signal mirror for low flying aircraft.

The Omega 3313 movement is identical to their 3303 movement except the 3313 has the co-axial escapement, this is the same movement inside the Omega DeVille and will be used in future models.

The accuracy of this watch is only surpassed by my Omega SeaMaster Quartz 300 2221.80, my Quartz Omega never loses or gains a second and the PO gains less than 5 seconds a week. The days I don't wear it, I spend 60 seconds winding it and store it standing vertically for optimum movement.

The bracelet includes the scuba extension of all SeaMasters, but has no convenience pins for rapid adjustment or for bodily weight fluctuation. It releases easily with the double release pins and feels confidently closed when clasped.

I've performed testing of the power reserve, it continues to function about 43 hours with a full wind.

The watch can also function with a running chronograph for over 40 hours on a full wind, that is impressive.

Overall, I'd recommend this watch for anyone who wants an exquisite sport timepiece which isn't out of place at a formal, like all of the Omegas made before it; I expect this watch to endure for my grandchildren and their grandchildren.

Omega Men's 2265.80.00 Seamaster Stainless Steel Watch Review

Omega Men's 2265.80.00 Seamaster Stainless Steel Watch

I purchased this Omega only after lusting after a Seamaster for 10 years- I researched this model as well as the james bond (didnt like the 007 wavy background) and also the 2264 which is awesome but I decided the blue was classy and also a little more fun than black- I bought from Amazon as they give a 5 year warranty- also comes with the serial numbers (note:does not come with the cards) the watch is perfect sized, listed at 41, looks like 43mm when all is said and done- classy and sporty, plus the heritage is great, light weight but masculine- has a great finish and glare proofing on the crystal make it well worth the price- high re-sale value as well make it a good investment you can wear daily! I wish it had a sweeping second hand but it is quartz and it makes sense to "tick" all and all beautiful and with the overnight shipping for 15 bucks you get it quick and easy- I suggest this watch for those who are smart enough to spend on a quality timepiece but who cannot afford the chronotimer which is a definite 5!!! enjoy

Definitively masculine in design, it features a large, round silver stainless steel watch case that blends brushed and polished surfaces and measures 41mm (1.61 inches) wide and 11.5mm (0.45 inches) deep.
The silver stainless steel watch case with a rhodium-plated finish is topped by a silver unidirectional bezel with markings in black. It frames a blue dial background with a Geneva wave pattern and large, luminous Dauphine hands (with seconds hand) and baton dial markers. I bought this watch from Amazon and am very satisfied with it. Came in spankin new with everything included except for the international warranty card which Amazon keeps. Checked the serial with Omega HQ in Switzerland and was verified of an authentic watch. For the price, it does make it worthwhile to own. This watch always sells out at Amazon so if its available buy it soon or else you will have to wait for over a month or two for it to be in stock again. I was about to buy it from an authorized dealer but the 2yr warranty &substantial price difference convinced me to buy it from Amazon.

Get it and you won't be disappointed, I guarantee it.

Omega Men's 2503.34.00 Seamaster Aqua Terra Automatic Chronometer Watch Review

Omega Men's 2503.34.00 Seamaster Aqua Terra Automatic Chronometer Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Omega Aqua Terra with the 2500 Co-Axial Movement is an excellent timekeeper as its Chronometer rating demands out of a timepiece as this. In three weeks ownership with regular wear, I have been monitoring the accuracy on a daily basis, and so far I have been getting approximately 2+/- seconds per day which is extremely precise for a mechanical watch. And, the watch is a beauty, its gold hands and markers on a white slightly iridescent dial contrasts beautifully.

When I received my Aqua Terra it was packed in the usual Omega white box, within contained the typical red leather display box, but I was absolutely pleased what the latter contained.A Pristine satin finished metal bracelet watch that sparkled with quality. I really was torn between the Gold and Blue Hands & Markers. But I am so glad I chose the Gold! The Gold markers and hands add that touch of class that all can relate to. This is one classic looking, solid timepiece of high quality build that I say BUY!Get it before the price rises, which will be soon.I know it's still a grey market watch, but Amazon leaves the serial numbers intact. A True Swiss Chronometer!

On a more technical description, the Caliber 2500 Co-Axial Movement is an Omega in-house production that has a COSC rated movement with 44 hour power reserve that utilizes a free sprung balance without index which maintains isochronism over a longer period of time. The Co-Axial escapement can also go 10 years without maintenance, however it is in my opinion that the watch me serviced within a 5 year period as other parts are dependant on proper lubrication. Also, if your watch is frequently used in or near water, you should have it pressure tested for a possible compromise in the seals once a year. Always check to make sure the crown is screwed-in securely if winding is required to ensure a tight water seal.

Omega Men's 2220.80.00 Seamaster 300M "James Bond" Automatic Chronometer Watch Review

Omega Men's 2220.80.00 Seamaster 300M 'James Bond' Automatic Chronometer Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This 2006 edition of the famous James Bond watch made its debut in the movie Casino Royale.Actually, there are two Omega watches in the movie; the limited edition Omega Seamaster Plant Ocean Big Size 2907.50.91 and the limited edition Omega Seamaster Chronometer 2226.80.00.The watch offered here carries on the James Bond style without the limited edition price tag.

This style of the James Bond watch first appeared in the movie 'Golden Eye' (1995) and is still available as the full size gents model 2531.80.00.The new 2006 model 2220.80.00 has several refinements that you should consider over the previous (but still available) model. Most notably, the automatic movement now has the newly designed Co-Axial escapement. The Co-Axial Technology reduces sliding friction compared with the lever escapement in the previous model and ensures greater accuracy over time.More importantly, it doesn't require servicing for 10 years versus 2-3 years in the previous model.Servicing a luxury watch like Omega can be expensive.Bear in mind that any Omega watch purchased on the internet voids the International Warranty, so read the seller's warranty terms carefully. This watch is also available in a quartz version as model 2221.80.00.

The other big change is the appearance of the watch face. The blue wave dial is a deeper shade blue with a more distinctive wave pattern and the Seamaster script is a subtle red.More apparent is the hour markings are now encased in stainless steel mountings instead of painted on as in the previous model. This alone cleans up the watch face and makes it look like it costs thousands more.

If you desire a James Bond series watch with a true Swiss movement, this is the one.

Product Description:
Set a course for adventure with this classic Omega Seamaster 300M stainless steel men's automatic chronometer watch, part of Omega's James Bond collection. You'll be able to negotiate all manner of adventures and still look stylish in the boardroom or at the baccarat table. This highly accurate, self-winding timepiece is also a great diving watch, with water resistance to 300 meters (984 feet) and a helium escape valve, which allows helium to escape from inside the watch when the watch is worn in highly pressurized environments (such as long-term underwater work evading the bad guys). The large silver rhodium-plated case measures 41mm wide (1.61 inches) and it's complemented by a handsome stainless steel bracelet band. A blue elapsed time unidirectional bezel frames a wavy blue dial that includes luminous dotted hour markers, luminous-tipped skeleton hands, and a date window at 3 o'clock. Other features include a 48-hour power reserve and scratch-resistant and glare-proofed domed sapphire crystal.
It's powered by Omega's break-through Co-Axial escapement. Developed in conjunction with master watchmaker George Daniels, it's based on double co-axial escape wheel, a lever with three pallet stones and impulse stone on the balance roller, together with a free sprung-balance. The Co-Axial escapement system reduces sliding friction compared with the lever escapement and thus ensures greater accuracy over time.
This watch also features the Omega 2500 caliber automatic movement, which has been certified as a chronometer by the COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Control). Only 3 percent of watches produced in Switzerland are "chronometer-certified." To achieve this highly coveted certification, the movements are subjected to numerous tests over a period of 15 consecutive days and nights, in five positions and at three different temperatures.
